It didn't take long for Kerouac to get over his depression. However, the separation anxiety and boredom led him to destroy my carpet and several books. We moved back to my hometown to stay with Granny for the summer. When I left he remained with her because my next apartment didn't allow dogs. He stayed with her for the next 10 years.
