Taffy - mixed breed

Taffy was the first dog I ever owned.  My folks had had dogs off and on for as long as I could remember.  I got to pick this poor thing from the litter.  Not very bright, not very attractive, but I loved her.  When I was away at college one year she got into some garbage in the alley and ate some hard plastic that shattered and perforated her intestines.  She died the same evening I made it back for Christmas vacation.  At least I got to see her before she went.  I always thought she had hung on long enough just for that purpose.  I was much more optimistic about the ways of the world then.
