Trepanning can mean to trephine. A trephine is a type of saw most often used to cut out disks of bone from the skull. Sometimes when the creative process is not going well, one wishes for a metaphorical trepanning in hopes it would release some ideas from the depths of that mass of gray tissue. On the other hand, it's generally not considered a good idea to try to bore holes in one's own skull.

I created most of these when I was tired and nearing the end of editing a shoot. In most cases there was very little, if any, forethought involved. In that way they seem to parallel a lot of my life decisions.
